What it does
A Splint is the clean answer to a fracture or dislocation that is not immediately life-threatening. While worn it sets limb strength to zero, so it is a commitment: plan your route before bracing a leg. In exchange it multiplies fracture healing by 2.5 and dislocation healing by 2.
The Splint decays at 1.5% per minute and lasts about 66 minutes in total. The Carcass Splint is a lighter makeshift alternative, but it decays much faster. Unlike the Bone Welding Tool, the Splint handles both fractures and dislocations and can be removed and reused.
Effects and usage
- Sets the splinted limb’s strength to 0 while worn.
- Heals fractures 2.5× faster and dislocations 2× faster.
- Decays at 1.5% per minute; roughly 66 minutes of use.
- Can be removed from the health panel at any time.
How to get it
Medical crates, life-pods and survivors. Craftable at INT 8.
The recipe requires INT 8. If you are below that level, the craft can fail or disappear from the menu. See the crafting guide for the exact failure thresholds, or open the crafting calculator to check the ingredients.
Field notes
- Splint a leg before a long climb, not halfway up a rope.
- Remove the splint once the bone is healed to get your mobility back.
- Carry a Splint if you plan to fight thornbacks or cross the Dried Desert.
- A splinted limb is still vulnerable. Avoid using it as a shield.
