What it does
Dressing is the standard answer to a bleeding limb in Casualties: Unknown. Each wrap is applied through a short minigame, and one full Dressing provides 12 wraps. It works on bleeding, skin health, limb pain, fractures and dislocations at the same time, which makes it the most flexible medical item in the early game.
Its main drawback is weight. At 0.9u it is awkward to carry in bulk, so experienced players often carry Canvas instead and craft Ripped Dressings only when a wound actually needs wrapping. A Dressing above 90% condition can also be upgraded into a Sterilized Dressing or Limb Wraps; above 50% it can become a Plastic Dressing or Bruise Kit.
Effects and usage
- Slows bleeding by 0.05625 L/m per wrap over 3 seconds at base blood viscosity.
- Restores 2.5 skin health over 5 seconds and removes 5 limb pain per wrap.
- A full 12-wrap Dressing removes 0.675 L/m of bleeding and restores 30 skin health.
- Speeds fracture healing by 38.8 seconds and dislocation healing by 23.8 seconds per wrap.
How to get it
Life-pods, medical crates and survivor stock. Craftable from 2 Ripped Dressings.
The recipe requires INT 5. If you are below that level, the craft can fail or disappear from the menu. See the crafting guide for the exact failure thresholds, or open the crafting calculator to check the ingredients.
Field notes
- Carry Canvas, not finished Dressings, if weight is tight. Craft Ripped Dressings at the health panel.
- Stop wrapping once bleeding is under control; partial bandages save condition for the next wound.
- Do not use a dirty bandage as a substitute for disinfection. Infection is a separate problem.
- Keep at least one Dressing above 90% condition for Sterilized Dressing crafting.
